Ansley

Ansley – 2 years

by Scott on Mar.15, 2009, under Ansley

Happy Birthday, Ansley.  You are now dreaming after your very busy day. I am thankful for you everyday. These last two years have gone by way too fast, but I enjoy getting to see you change and become more expressive as the days pass. Mommy and I are both so proud of you. You were such a little lady at your party. I hope you had fun today and I look forward to getting to spend many hours playing with you on your new slide.

I love you, Daddy.

Snow?!

by Scott on Mar.02, 2009, under Allison, Ansley, Family

We had the privilege of waking up to an inch or two of snow yesterday morning.  Ansley hadn’t seen any snow since she was a few months old.  Allison brought Ansley into our room and I hadn’t even made it out of bed, but I had opened the window to see outside.  The first thing that Ansley did is say, “Hi, Daddy.”  She hadn’t yet noticed the strange event occurring outside.  Allison prompted her to look out the window, where she said, “Daddy, what is that?”  It was pretty cute and I was upset that I didn’t have the video camera rolling to catch it.  This is my attempt to preserve the moment.

We managed to get Ansley all bundled up to go outside for a few minutes before getting ready for Church.  Unfortunately, Ansley did not have any proper shoes for playing in the snow, so most of our time was spent in the driveway catching the snowflakes and playing with some of Ansley’s favorite outside toys, including ‘farmer’, a ride-on toy that plays Old Macdonald, and her bubble mower.  I don’t think that she minded that we didn’t play in the snow.  She kept saying that everything was ’dirty.’  This is also the same reaction we had at the beach.  The girl does not like to get her hands, feet, or anything else for that matter covered with any foreign substance.  Snow definitely fits that bill in Alabama.

Reallly…..Reallly…..Reallly…….Pop!

by Scott on Mar.02, 2009, under Ansley, Family

What in the world does this mean?  If you know, let me know.  This is one of Ansley’s latest sayings that we have no idea what it means or where it came from.  The context that she uses it in doesn’t help in determining, either.

Taking it easy…

by Scott on May.15, 2008, under Ansley, MBA

Ansley is 14 months old today. It is hard to believe how fast the past year or so has gone by. It has been a lot of fun, though, getting to watch her grow, learn and enjoy all of her new experiences.

I am in the middle of a break from school. I go back on the 27th of May for the first of two five-week mini semesters. I will be taking a Management course and a Managerial Economics course this summer. In the fall, I will be taking two distance learning courses in the Engineering Management department. After that, I will have three classes to graduate.

At work today, there was a shooting in my building. I didn’t even know about it until Allison called to see if I was OK. Our campus has approximately 1,500 employees and the building that I work in has eight stories and is one of the largest buildings in Huntsville. The incident appears to have been between an employee and a relative. The police arrested the suspect shortly after the incident at his apartment. The person who was shot, was shot through a door (very thick solid wood) and the bullet ‘grazed’ his shoulder. He didn’t go to the hospital immediately, so it must have been a minor injury. I guess this might have been scary if I had known it happened, but it really seems kind of surreal. Allison and I ate dinner in Madison and the Huntsville police officers that responded and caught the suspect were eating at the same restaurant. You could tell that it was not a normal day at the office for them. We saw one of the officers on TV capturing the shooter at a Madison apartment complex.

Anyway, I have lots of pictures that I need to get added to my galleries. The real holdup has been learning the tools I use to create the galleries. I am trying to figure out how to create a better template to make it go faster. I will post again when I put up another gallery.

Stay tuned…

by Scott on Dec.28, 2007, under Allison, Ansley, Family

I am currently trying to get this site up and running. I am looking at different ways to add media to this page. I would like to be able to add both photographs and video clips. Stay tuned for updates and don’t be surprised if the page ends up looking quite different. I expect it to take a few weeks before I settle on a final design.

We are still in Birmingham visiting with my parents at this time. Christmas was two days ago, but it’s easy to want to hold on to the season for as long as possible, especially since this was Ansley’s first. She doesn’t necessarily know what Christmas is about, but she did enjoy the excitement of everything. I think :)

I know that she did enjoy the music and Christmas lights. It has been fun watching as she discovers new things everyday.

I know that I am jumping from subject to subject, but Muh-muh and I gave her a ‘Lion’ walker for Christmas and after just a few hours she was walking across the room behind it. We may have to hide it from her so she doesn’t learn too quickly. Oh well, either way it is fun and exciting. She can probably crawl faster than she will be able to walk for a while.

Maybe when the media ability is added to the site, I will get some pictures of her ‘walking’ behind her Lion.
